The Yaesu FT-891 is an amateur HF transceiver covering the 160 to 6 meter bands with 100 watts. It features a triple conversion general coverage receiver tuning 30 kHz to 56 MHz. Modes include AM, USB, LSB and CW. Got my FT-891 today and got it all hooked up and ready for the RTTY. EDIT: Yaesu support has reported that their test units do the exact same.
Got my FT-891 today and got it all hooked up and ready for the RTTY contest, only to find out that it has some sort of USB issue. Constant beeping from the internal speaker (external speaker plugged in also exhibits this) when connected via USB and software (N1MM/HRD) is communicating to it.. sounds like coupling between the speaker and USB circuits maybe?
Very frustrating! Nothing but power and USB connected.
Check out the vid - thoughts? Volume is fully muted in the vid. I know the 991 is in some ways the same, have any of you had similar issues? Frustrating, looks like I got hit with early adopter woes.
Also, where is the USB soundcard everyone was saying it would have? Did I miss a menu item? No sound card in device manager..
EDIT: Yaesu support has reported that their test units do the exact same thing, and that the beep is a CAT command error beep from utilizing an incompatible instruction set. HRD/N1MM must release a 891 specific command set for their software before it will function properly. No idea on the missing Sound Hardware yet.
